Sustainable Parenting Now
2nd and 4th Thursdays in September/October, 1-2:30 p.m.
"Treat the earth well. It was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your
children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children."
(Ancient Indian Proverb) This twice-monthly group will discuss how to make changes in our
personal habits to become more intentional in consuming the limited resources of our world. Some
common questions we ask ourselves - What choices and compromises can we make to live
sustainably? How do we use our creativity as parents to overcome the challenges of choosing more
sustainable ways? Ongoing topics will include: slower living, water use, transportation, food
choices, shopping and media, healthcare and others. This is a chance to share knowledge and
experience with other parents, and challenge each other in a supportive environment to
re-envision our way of living. Led by mother of two, Chloe Taylor Evans. Location: Private Home,
East Sac. Contact Chloe at (916) 457-7963 for details. This discussion is free.
Elimination Communication Workshop
Wednesday, September 15, Noon-1 p.m.
If you've ever said to yourself, "I KNEW she needed to pee!" after changing your baby's diaper
for the third time that hour, you are not alone. The new terms "Elimination Communication" or
"Natural Infant Hygiene" refer to an age-old practice in most cultures around the world. Tuning
into your baby's signals before they eliminate, offering them an appropriate place to go, and
cuing them with a sound or position are the simple techniques that can save you partial or total
diaper use now and later. Practicing toileting in this way is also a wonderful opportunity to
communicate with your baby and appreciate her incredible abilities! Mother Chloe Taylor Evans
will discuss her experience and challenges using these methods with her infant and older
daughter. Location: Private Home, East Sac. Please contact Chloe at (916) 457-7963 for details.
This class is free for members, $5 for non-members.
